The Delaware Department of Education today released its first annual reports on the state’s teacher and specialist educator preparation programs, providing information ranging from the diversity of programs’ candidate classes to student performance outcomes of graduates to job placement and retention within the state.
Higher ed. representatives are not the only educators concerned by this “report.” K-12 educators are used to these kinds of questionable ratings, rankings, and labels attached to kids, classrooms, schools, and education professionals. Ineffective, invalid, unreliable, and begs the question what’s the purpose–what’s the motivation–who benefits from all this? Everybody gets a report card except for the Department of Eucation.
